This exhibition came about as a result of a long-term collaboration to promote silverpoint drawings generally. Both Jeannine Cook and Jeffrey Lewis are artists who have long used metalpoint, and especially silverpoint, as a vehicle to express the more reflective, quieter aspects of their art. Both also paint, but these shimmering monochromatic drawings allow an examination of their worlds in a different way. Both artists are aware of the shimmering, quiet and healing voice that metalpoint drawings can project. Each artist believes that in today’s tumultuous, violent and complex world, this medium can offer viewers reminders of order, beauty and centering calm.
The opening reception is on Thursday, May 11 • 5:00-7:00 p.m.
