The elegance of dry palmetto leaves, with light playing on their graceful blades, affords me great delight on my walks along sandy coastal ways. I used the approach favoured in Renaissance times to draw these leaves: tinting the background allows an emphasis on light patterns with white gouache complementing the silver lines.
